Could you share with us what drew you to Sunseeker and how your 23 years of experience with the brand has shaped your understanding of luxury yachting?
I am originally from Poole in Dorset, the hometown of Sunseeker in the UK. Growing up there, I would often visit this restaurant with my parents, and from the car park, we could see these boats being built and tested. It’s like I had a front-row seat to the Sunseeker scene, which I believe made a big impression on me at an early age!
I joined the Royal Navy at the age of xx and started traveling all over the world. Everywhere I went, I’d spot Sunseeker boats—in Brazil, Hong Kong, the Mediterranean, you name it. It was like they were following me around, calling me to be a part of their world. Coincidentally, after many years at sea, a long-term friend called me up, who had just started selling the Sunseeker brand in Mallorca, invited me to see what he was doing and the possibilities being a part of the Sunseeker team could offer. The next week, I gave my notice to the Royal Navy and started the second chapter of my working career—still on the water but with a very different clientele – and a lot more fun!
What really resonated with me about Sunseeker is this whole idea of the “Sunseeker Family.” The founder, the late (and great) Robert Braithwaite, saw everyone involved – designers, builders, dealers, clients – as a part of this big family. It’s like this sense of community that runs through everything they do. And they even have this hashtag, #sunseekerfamily, where everyone can share their adventures. I think it’s going to be especially relevant for the Middle Eastern market.
